This August proved to be one of our busiest months ever with teams of McKay Flooring operatives working in London, Nottingham, Yorkshire, Brighton and Norfolk installing and renovating sports floors. The summer is alway challenging for our contracts department as the focus is on schools and colleges who undertake floor renovations and the installation of new sports floors while the students are away. We undertook two separate sports floor installations in the Norfolk area alone in mid August, fitting a new Junckers wooden sprung floor at Cromer Academy and the installation of a Gerflor Taraflex Vinyl sports floor for the prestigious Gresham’s School. Having a tired old Granwax sports surface Gresham’s took the decision to update the sports hall floor to a new Taraflex Vinyl Sports floor. Our installation method consisted of preparing the existing floor, screeding areas to form a level surface then laying out the Gerflor vinyl. Once the Vinyl sports floor has been rolled out and laid the Taraflex is glued at the joints and hot air welded at the edges to form a seamless surface. This particular job also required the installation of 12 sport courts and two of our sports court specialist operatives were duly dispatched to Norfolk to carry out the marking and installation of the indoor sports courts required.
