Summer golf has teed off with a vengeance and visitors from abroad are making their way in droves to the great Scottish courses. Turnberry is always popular and rightly so; the courses are superb and the facilities for golfers are among the best in the country.
If you are lucky enough to visit the hotel after a round or two, you will notice one of our favourite pieces of work under your feet. McKay Flooring fitted nearly 600 square metres of Wenge timber throughout the restaurant and bar areas of the famous old Ayrshire hotel.
Wenge is a beautiful dark timber from West Africa, used both for flooring and cabinet making. It requires a lot of skilled workmanship and we spent many hours laying the intricate herring-bone pattern then sanding and sealing it.
