Leather Flooring by Torlys added to luxury collection at McKay Flooring Ltd.
Glasgow, - May, 19 2009 - McKay Flooring Ltd are proud to be the first to introduce Leather Flooring by TORLYS to the UK market. The flooring will be available to buy from our on-line shop, opening in June this year, and in stock and on sale now in our showrooms.
Inspired by the quality of fine Italian leather, TORLYS has created a beautifully distinct, contemporary collection of environmentally sustainable flooring. TORLYS Leather is made from 100% recycled leather and such is our confidence in the range, it is assured with a 25-year residential wear warranty.
In addition to it's environmentally friendly production, TORLYS leather flooring exceeds some of the most stringent indoor air quality standards in the world; the flooring contains no harmful VOC emissions and no added formaldehyde. The flooring comes in planks and tiles and uses the UNICLIC patented joint system, eliminating the need for messy glues, chemicals or nails. It can be laid in practically any type of room, by practically anyone. And as the UNICLIC system is reversible, it can be uplifted and re-used up to three times under warranty. Samples are available upon request.
If you are looking for an environmentally friendly flooring product with looks and performance to back it up, come to Mckay Flooring Ltd and see the extensive range in our new showroom.

Footprint free - Storm Harvest Windblown collection
February 23, 2009

 |
Its a dilemma faced by many within the design and architecture industries: how to achieve a high specification whilst also addressing the growing demand for sustainable materials and resources. But now Glasgow-based firm McKay Flooring has a viable answer with its new footprint free range of Scottish hardwood products from our new Storm Harvest Collection. All of the timber is locally sourced from trees that are wind blown, partially diseased or removed as part of a thinning or clearing process by local authorities when bringing woodland under management. In other words, trees that would have been chipped or burnt but which are now diverted from landfill by our partner company. In their own words, "We collate and grade the timber, mill it, then convert it into high quality hardwood boards for end-user products all within a five-mile radius of Glasgow. We never import, meaning we minimise travel miles and in doing so, we significantly reduce the carbon footprint of all of our products. We also support Glasgow local authority woodland units three to one policy whereby three new trees are planted for every one tree removed, helping ensure that this valuable natural resource continues to thrive and flourish for future generations. " Suitable for a range of applications But the benefits dont stop there. Because all the hardwood in our footprint free range originates from native Scottish timbers a species thats highly prized for its unique, slow growing nature it has a strength and character that is second to none, making it ideal for a wide range of domestic and commercial applications -from floorboards to oak beams.
