The Birth of a Barrel from Travis Robertson on Vimeo.
A quick trip around the Brown Forman Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky showing how a Jack Daniel’s oak whiskey barrel is made from start to finish.
Many of the reclaimed oak whisky barrels we use to create whisky barrel flooring originate in the USA starting life as bourbon barrels before moving on to Scotland where many of the distillery’s harness the once used fresh oak barrels as part of their ageing process and to Spain and France where they are utilised for Sherry production. Bourbon barrels are only used once before being sold on.
