Tricks of the Trade – Removing marks from a gym floor

If you work with gym floors, school assemblies or general purpose hall floors then you will be familiar with the black scuff marks that appear from time to time. And it isn’t only gym floors, the marks can show up on domestic floors too, if the wrong shoes happen to walk across the floor. An easy fix is to rub them with a tennis ball; it should takes the marks right off. Be careful with a high-gloss finish, as it can slightly dull glossy floors, but duller sheens are usually fine.

We recommend testing it first in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure you don’t do any lasting damage. For ease of use, the ball can be cut and attached onto a pole.

More stubborn marks may require a deep clean and professional floor buffing. If your sports or gym flooring requires much needed cleaning or renovation please  contact us on 0845 602 7694 to organise a visit and free survey from our maintenance manager.
