Home designers and architects often come to the McKay Flooring showroom in search of a vintage look for their floors and assume we will point them towards reclaimed wood. You can see why they would think that but reclaimed flooring once it is sanded and treated, often looks brand new again. And that is not exactly the look they are after.
If you would like more of an aged, gently-worn, lived-in style then the good news is some companies work hard to achieve this look on your behalf when they engineer their flooring and we carry several examples in our showroom.
Take the Clyde Flooring range for example. Clyde Estuary Antique European oak flooring is hand-distressed specifically to create that aged and worn appearance. What is more, it is then finished with an antique oil to replicate the look of a well-loved floor. The result is the classic, aged look you were after but with all the benefits of new wood flooring.
